WHY WE NEED
YOUR HELP…
“I want you to believe... To believe in things you cannot”
The filming that has already been completed has been primarily self-funded by the team along with a small arts grant from Derby City Council. There has been plenty of in-kind support from fellow professionals and local organisations who have either given their time or resources for free or at a significantly discounted rate. This was always our plan for the initial blocks of filming, but with the understanding that we will be able to offer payment for any subsequent blocks that are filmed.
We are an incredibly resourceful and creative team, and so far, our passion has allowed us to achieve great things, but we need your help to see this through! To further demonstrate our dedication to telling this story, key members of our Cast and Crew have all offered their time, expertise and equipment at significantly reduced rates, meaning our budget is as efficient as possible, and every penny will be seen on screen.
We have had interest from several performers who are willing to be extras in the film for no cost, and we are also working with local businesses, where possible, to secure discounted rates for goods and services. This project is hugely important to us, and we want to make sure that every penny we spend goes directly into making the film look, sound and feel as cinematic as it possibly can. There are millions of Dracula fans around the world, and we feel like we owe it to them to make this as exciting, scary and atmospheric as it deserves to be.
We know we are the best people for the job, we have the skills, the vision and the dedication, we just need you to help us tell this story.
But first let us break down what we still have left to shoot, and how you can help us cross the finish line...
REMAINING BLOCKS OF FILMING:
The remainder of the film, that has yet to be shot, has been divided into the following blocks, so that the rest of the story can be told in the best way possible and maintains the quality of what we have shot so far, in our initial first 2 blocks…
BLOCK 3: The Quatre Saison Inn
This location is a pivotal part of the film as it is the first time we’re introduced to our protagonist Jonathan Harker, Coachman Johann, and the Innkeeper -Herr Delbruck. Bookending the film, this location also serves as the setting for the climax of the film.
With a sip of hot wine and the opening of a mysterious letter it is finally revealed that Dracula has been pulling the strings all along...
BLOCK 4: The Wolf
Having fled the clutches of The Countess, our protagonist finds his escape snatched from his grasp, coming face to face with the glowing eyes and snarling teeth of a wolf. As he stares death in the face, the hound of hell is chased off by group of superstitious villagers.
This is a penultimate moment within our protagonist’s story that will require CGI and a host of extras. Think flaming torches, improvised farm-based weaponry & an angry mob!
BLOCK 5: The Carriage & Crossroad
This is where we build the world of Dracula’s Guest. It’s Munich, 1893. A city of striking contrasts, jostling between long-standing local traditions & institutions & a flourishing centre of the new arts movement.
We have sourced an authentic period location but will require both CGI and extensive set dressing to establish it as an accurate 19th century Bavarian village.
BLOCK 6: A Journey of Tall-Tales
Our protagonist strikes up a conversation with his coach driver and learns about the hallowed Walpurgis Night and witnesses local superstition and mischief first hand.
To pull of this scene we are calling upon a connection with a local studio and plan to film the carriage interior on a sound stage utilising cutting edge ‘volume’ technology to capture this in a way we simply would not be able to get on location.
